That is way cool. I wish someone would start a project to do something similar for Jack Casady's instruments.

Pretty cool that somebody tried, but unfortunately there's a good amount of misinformation there. "Starfire IV" is obviously wrong. "Series I" is also incorrect, as those basses came later. Jack played Alembic #1. Also, Jack was no longer using the jazz bass (but rather his first Starfire) by the time of his involvement in Voodoo Child. That article also leaves out the steinberger, the non-traditional modern 80s Fender bass, that custom job that looked kind of like a BC Rich Eagle(?), the Guild B-50, and ya can't forget the modified balalaika bass! There are surely others I'm forgetting too

Thanks. As mellow notes there are things we could add. In addition we know there were two modified Starfire basses.

I also wonder what the verification standard is? Are interviews and eyewitness testimony enough or is "pictures or it didn't happen" really true at equipboard or are multiple attestations required?

The Phil timeline was a nice attempt by someone, especially all of the Modulus stuff. He also played a Jack Epiphone model at an
”acoustic “ show, an upright at a show (may have been a Philharmonia show), and I’m sure likely others, and I know he played both Big Brown and Mission Control at shows throughout the 70s based on shows I saw during that period. A true bass and sound innovator :)

I think it's really noteworthy that Phil regularly poses with Big Brown, and on occasion still uses it. It shows where his loyalty is. Cool. I agree.

Is that a new neck on there? Like, did Alembic remove the Guild neck and put on their own so that only the body is Guild?
I think his tone is great with the Starfire both pre and post Alembic. I haven't listened enough to the other basses to know about them.
