Good evening

What do you think of this pedal?

Should I give it a shot? or just go for the original? Thanks for your help!

A google search for the engraved email address implied that the builder is Walter Craffonara, a senior electric engineer from Austria. I emailed him, but no answer so far.

Buy an original on the used market. They are built like tanks and it is a pedal I can confidently say I will not sell. I ignored a good friend for the better part of a year as he kept recommending it. I wish I had bought it the first time he mentioned it.

Yes I got some recommondations for it as well, the pedal seems to please almost everyone :) I want it to improve the tone of my Strymon Timeline pedal. What do you think of it, does it alter your tone a lot? Somewhere I read that it enhances the bass frequencies too much, what do you think of this?

The builder (who is not the seller) wrote back now, he states that he built an exact copy of the Xotic EP booster using the best parts he could find, having built the pcb himself. Seems like he had the original schematic at hand.

Boost pedals are not complicated. He could have just examined one and "designed" the pedal. And by designed I mean stole.

I'm all for building clones, but for pedals no longer in current production. I do not like seeing people's designs stolen and resold by someone else - ESPECIALLY when using the same name. Sadly there is an entire cottage industry around this practice.

 The way I understand it he cloned version 1.0 which is not longer for sale, but I still think you've made a good point here.
