Padded back T-100

So, does anybody know if Guild ever put a pad on the back of an archtop like this T-100?

I don't think that's original either, definitely a 60's Gretsch thing. And a good way, as the Gretsch company (or Jimmie Webster?) fully realised, to hide a giant hole in the back for electronics access. Can't imagine either hole/badded back pad could possibly be any kind of asset to a guitar's sound.

And those are not DeArmond pickups, and certainly not "DeArmand" pickups.
