One of these days, they're going to have start making and shipping guitars..... one day.

It's kinda funny, Last year we would see the Question, "When are they going to Start U.S.A. Production, Anyone Know? Man I can't wait for it!" about every week or so whether it be from a new member or Old one. After the much Anticipated reveal of the D20/M20 No nitro bare bones "U.S. Made" line at NAMM 2016, There haven't been too many inquiries as to when U.S. production will ship or sell. LOL, Guess the public wasn't as Excited after that. However I do look forward to at least getting one in my hands to check out.

Looks like Elderly has the D-20 available for Pre-Order at $1279 with a "not available" Shipping Date. That price includes a Hard case with a Built in Humidifier. Not bad considering the original MAP was supposed to be around $1399. Here is the link.

I think we've been wondering and anticipating for so long and after a while people just get tired. They kinda stop caring. They lose interest. I have no idea what's going on in Oxnard, but I'm pretty much over thinking about it. Wake me up if anything shows up in an actual store for purchase.

I've been following this whole "new Guilds" thing from the sidelines for quite a while. I'm just going to come out and say it... I'm skeptical of the existence of a market for budget-trimmed, satin-finished all-'hog copies of '60s-'80s models at a $5-600 premium over their readily available vintage counterparts. I just don't see it. "Where are the new Guilds?" The answer is "Who cares, go buy one of the many attractively priced used ones," since there's no bad era to avoid. I have a feeling that, when "where are the new Guilds?" changes to "here are the new Guilds," the answer will remain the same.

kak,

It's an interesting contrast. New Hartford spun up with the flagship D-55 then added other traditional models. Oxnard is trying it a little differently. As Ren said (forgive my paraphrasing), there was no background in guitar construction with these new employees, and he felt it was better to start with unadorned guitars.

What will happen is that it will take time for Oxnard to make its mark on the Guild line. We saw this with Tacoma's Contemporary series, New Hartford's Standard series, GSRs, Patriarch, and the truly left-field Orpheums... Oxnard will have its day. Also, let's not forget, Fender dictated the moves after Westerly. This, here, is a new ballgame.

Mav, I can't remember, but we discussed this elsewhere. The D-20/F-20 finish is not NCL, but I don't think it was a polyester finish either.
Although I am disappointed to see that they're continuing the current fetish for total pore filling, even on hog guitars. The vintage ones had a much thinner finish with plenty of poreishness. I think this gives them a more alive feel.

Tex what do you mean by "no nitro?" are they poly?

I know for a fact that it is not Nitro and I don't think it is Poly either. From the video I remember watching it was the easiest satin finish you could apply as Ren was still trying to teach the folks at Oxnard how to do a Gloss Nitro Finish without messing it up.
