Not to surprised to see Sears on the list. Reminds me of Monkey Wards 10 years ago.

Oh man...my plans just got totally screwed up....I had a dream of going to Texas to share a root beer float with Scratch...Thinking of getting a nice Saab with the Nokia wireless bluetooth and the Sony Erricson phone. I wouldn't want to get too distracted while munching my Kellogg's Corn Pops...I'd also feel secure knowing I had my lifetime guaranteed Craftsman tools in the trunk along with a couple of changes of American Apparel and a few Sony Movie DVDs to enjoy at a rest stop...while keeping in touch on my space....the only thing that I was really worried about was having to use some filthy gas station washroom with nothing but Soap Opera Digest magazines instead of toilet paper.....now I gotta come up with a whole new plan.. :? ..Steffan

The world will be a better place without "All my Children" & Soap Opera Digest. Good riddance.

Bummer on the Craftsman tool guarantee.

Steffan you scoundrel! Good to see all the action from such a simple post! I too will miss Craftsman and Sears the most. Every dog has its day, but nothing lasts forever.

The path D'Ambrosio is likely to take is to consolidate two brand into one — keeping the better performing Kmart and shuttering Sears.

1) Sears is not dead yet.
2) The article is focused on brands and not companies.
3) The consolidation described in the article would not relieve the parent company of any warranty and liability issues related to Sears Craftsman tools. The consolidation is likely to close under-performing stores and rename others but unless they do something like the "toxic General Motors" spin off and associated bankruptcy, the warranty should still be honored. A better model for this might be First Union, Wachovia and Wells Fargo. First Union bought Wachovia and then decided to retain the Wachovia name for the combined entity. Wells Fargo bought Wachovia and is in the process of changing the Wachovia name to Wells Fargo. But none of this renaming activity effected liabilities.
