Just read this on Premier Guitar. Excellent article. Exactly the same story as my 1986 D15.
Thanks for sharing!

D25’s were great guitars. Lots of folks had them. I think Tom Petty had a 12 string version that he toured with.

I bought my D25C the summer of ‘73 with my high school graduation money. I sold it years ago when I started to get into guitars with wider nut spacing.

A '70s D-25 Cherry was my introduction to Guild. My college buddy had it, and I used to play mostly rhythm on my Ibanez 12-string while he played lead or vice versa (my attempts at lead were laughable, but we did PLENTY of that). Anyway, I have always felt the D-25 is the iconic Guild acoustic, at least for "men of a certain age" like me. There are a few other models that you could probably make a case for -- such as the F-50 for example -- but the D-25 is, IMO, the model that brought along the most Guild fans!

That was a fun read nonetheless, and no doubt the D25 is a great guitar. I don’t know that I’d let mine bake in the sun on a sandy beach, but glad to know it will stand up to the abuse :). It may inspire me to make mine the lake guitar, we’ll see. (shoulda kept the Martin DM just for that purpose! D’oh)
