Guild number two arrived at my door Thursday. A 2000 D40. The dreaded men in brown got it to my door in one piece, all the way from Long Island. Graham put up a link to this (on AGF) a while back. I came into some unexpected money a while later, and dug up Grahams post. The seller had no takers in the AGF classifieds, so he put it on evil-bay. I PMed him and said I'd give his asking price if he would pull the auction. He did and I'm so glad. This guitar is exceptional.
Condition is excellent. Slight darkening of finish at base of headstock, reaction to rubber on a hanger. Two tiny dings in finish on top. That's about it. Very well cared for. I've seen worse sold as new. The case is a little dinged up, and it was covered with stickers, but they were easily removed.
This guitar is a tone monster. D40s are always nice, but this one is perfect. It was a very good day in Westerly when they built this one.
This guitar is the perfect companion to my D17. I feel like the Tone King of hog heaven. Price? $700 & shipping. I feel like a thief.
So here are some bad photos of the new D40 and of the D17.
