Hello

After some issues with a malfunctioning adapter cable, today is the day: My new overdrive pedal Vemuram Shanks ODS 1 is installed and ready to rock!

I am very much excited about the variety of tones and sounds it produces, everything in between from a slight nice crunchy tone up to some serious overdrive. The sound always stays natural and more amp- than pedal-like, big plus!

Here's a nice short review on youtube:

Damn I like this telecaster and the sound of it. If only they would not be such a pain in the a** to play :highly_amused:

Now excuse me please, I need to rock :pirate:

Cool!

How do you like the Blue Sky? I love the Strymon echo.

Judging by the demos I've heard the Vemuram pedals sound great. Crank 'er up! ;-)

What about the Tele is giving you issues playing-wise? I find 'em pretty comfortable, though maybe not as comfy as Strats.

Oh, I like it a LOT! It can give you a big variety of sounds, from real vintage reverberation to very modern/experimental sounds. I find experimenting with it really inspiring. The different modes distinguish themselves clearly from each other, more than I know it from other pedal. With the help of the controls the sounds can be adjusted very fine. There is a stereo output, which can be handy when you go to the studio, and when used in mono, there is no deprivation in quality. If you are happy with just one memory capacity and no midi integration, I can fully recommend the pedal. Ah, and the workmanship is flawless, as you can expect it.

The only downside IMO: you can't completely turn off pre-delay, even with the regulator on zero, so there is always a tiny tiny bit of delay between the actual note and the effect.

Check this guy out, he developped the pedal and seems at times overwhelmed by his own genius :highly_amused: Besides that, he gives you a good idea of what you can do with it soundwise.

Well, to be honest I cannot pinpoint it exactly, maybe it's more in my head than anything else. I just developped some kind of hate-love against the teles, I don't like the neck profile and the body feels kind of... chunky? Maybe I need to talk to my shrink about it one day, because sound-wise I really like them!

Sounds well-thought out enough to me.
Even flagellants have a justification for their preferred, uh, instrument (of torture).....:glee:

Hey AL, interesting you bring up the flagellants at this point of time! This is extremely off-topic, but did you know that the flagellants formed at the time of the medieval plague? The doomsday mood of those days caused many people to turn away from the church, as they could no longer believe it's promises of salvation in the face of the rampant plague. Instead, they sought their salvation in dubious sects like the flagellants. Others found their scapegoats in the Jews and organized progroms, but that is another sad story... Dark times indeed.

I just read a very interesting article discussing the role of different epidemics in human history. Unfortunately it's in german, Idk if it does still make sense when you run it through deepl translator?

A good thing about Fenders is you can swap out the neck if you don't like the feel of the one you've got. I had to do this last year with my '90s relic Tele due to neck warp (after fighting it on & off for 20 years). The new neck has a profile I really like, and as a bonus it has transformed the guitar sonically from fine to livewire. I've been playing it a lot since last summer.
