I checked one of these out because it was priced at $399. No fret out anywhere, very comfortable, and actually sounds great.
How can they put these out with such good fit, finish and feel at this price point?

I think that model used to be made in Korea, but is now made in Indonesia. So maybe that accounts for the $399 price tag?

^^ Ooh, I think that's a very good bet, GG. We're seeing the same thing with some of the Guild 'leccies.

Yes, they're alright for the weirdly low price. Those humuckers do sound quite a bit darker than any traditional Gretsch pickup.

Not sure if the pickups themselves are super-dark, or the fact that they're fairly loaded down with both individual volumes, a master volume and a tone knob. With a regular filtertron Gretsch, at least there's not a tone knob.
