All well and good, but it's not New Haven Apizza. When playing in NYC, Frank Sinatra would often send his driver to New Haven for a Sally's pie, and Pepe's white clam pie is legendary among touring musicians.

Cool, will have to check out Sally's Apizza next time I'm in the New Haven area.

Pepe's White Clam Pie? Never heard a that one before yet. Is it made with real clam? In a pizza??

Lombardi's in Little Italy makes a pretty good clam pie, too.

Probably copied Frank's!
One thing visitors find surprising about old line New Haven Apizza, mootz is an add on. Regular "plain" pie is just sauce sprinkled with a little parm.

Uh, Lombardi's has been around since 1905, and calls themselves "America's first pizzeria".

I don't doubt that Pepe's makes a great pie, though.
Yes, Pepe's is younger, but I think theirs was the first white clam pie. May not be, would be interesting to find out.
