Got me a cheap mandolin from the Stupid Deal of the Day. Not too bad for $50. Great fun learning chords and riffs. Now I'll have to get a good one someday!

Have you played Mandolin before? Man, I love the Mandolin, and after playing guitar for so many years I took to it like a fish to water. Been playing Mandolin for over 20 years now, and the funny thing is, I only know about 4 chords - G,C,D,A.

Most of the time I just play scales, which seem to be laid out very logically in my way of thinking, and it just sounds so nice to tinkle along on the Mando in the higher registers! The Mandolin and the Piano sound particularly good together.

I borrowed one from a friend for a week's beach vacation about 10 years ago. Had fun with it . Returned it but never got my own so I forgot everything I learned that week...which wasn't much.

I've had a mandolin for a few years, just can't get used to the narrow neck. Maybe it's time I really work on it a little more.

I rec'd a mandolin as payment for some editing about 10 years ago ... i had had a bowl-back as a teenager but never could quite "get" it ... but I've learned with my new one ... then I discovered that an octave mandolin is just what it sounds like, a mandolin an octave lower, for those considering adding eight stings to their repertoire, it's much easier to finger (thing about an Irish bouzouk, too ... tuned G-D-A-D, instead of the G-D-A-E mandolin) ... now, I've got a couple of acoustic mandos (one cheap, one not), an electric mando (1936 Rickenbacker), and an octave ...

I like switching back and forward between guitar and mandolin family. Got two mandolins, one a cheap, but decent Rally (Chinese), which I learnt on and an APC (Portuguese), which has a better sound, but has neck issues:( Also have a GH&S Zither Banjo Mandolin (British and probably pre-war), which is great to play, and a mandocello, which I converted from a really cheap Chinese guitar, which I picked up from E-Bay. To complete the set, I have my modified APC Portuguese guitar, which is my take on a Cittern. 12 strings in five courses.

I love playing the Bouzoukis at Elderly Instruments as well, I'd like to get one some day.
