Well, let the hating begin. I'm a fairly weird kinda guy but the good thing is that I accept my weirdness, so not much that anybody says will hurt me or make me feel bad. I just happen to like guitars you don't see everyday. Martin made seven of these "Lady Liberty" D 16's for Sam Ash. Solid Spruce top, solid Mahogany back, and solid (I think) Mahogany sides. No electronics, Martin HSC etc.

Anyway, ya'll likely won't like it and I don't much care. Here's a link that will show you a few pics and no, that's not the price I paid.

Regards,

The Grinch

How does it sound?

Ralph

I had the guy send me a sound quote and that sounded wonderful. of course he (like most everybody) is a far better player than me so that needs to be taken into consideration. I just paid for it. Likely won't get it until late this week or maybe early next week.

Upon reflection I realize I am not much of a fan of decorated/painted guitars. But to keep the hate in perspective, while I would look for naptha if it had a sharpie autograph, I think I could learn to live with Lady Liberty if the alternative was a new paint job.

I think it's very FESTIVE and it's your guitar so what we think doesn't really matter. If YOU like it then all is good!! I keep trying to think that I don't care for it, but then I keep going back to look at it in greater detail over and over so...... maybe it fascinates me? Can't wait to hear how you like it once it arrives!! (y)

Guitar art, congrats! Does the D-16 have the A-frame bracing?

The 16-Series historically has used a hybrid bracing, utilizing construction cues from both the lower line A-frame bracing & Standard-Series bracing.

Congrats Richard. I can’t say that I’m a big fan of these kinds of finishes but I get it. I’ve almost pulled the trigger on those Grateful Dead inspired yukes that Musicians Friend puts on sale now and then. I think your guitar would be great fun for doing a selection of patriotic inspired songs.

Congrats, Richard, now you need to commit to learning Guy Van Duser's arrangement of "Stars and Stripes Forever". By July 4th.

Interesting arrangement. It got a lot more of the counter melodies than I expected.
