The subject says it all. I’d like for the HB1’s to be original to the guitar.

I’m no Hans, but I think that’s gonna be a tough one. I’m eager to be proven wrong.

So it may not exist? Dang!! I always thought it was an option?
Oh, it may exist. I don't know if I've seen any. Let me check my NightbirdPages archive and see if he recorded any.

I can't make any claims to accuracy, but of the roughly 120 he recorded, 7 are reported to have "Guild" pickups, however he made no distinction between types of Guild pickups.

Of all the pictures he saved (all of which are very low quality due to the age of the Internet when he collected them), I found only one with HB1s, and it's a beauty:

I cannot say if the pickups were original, but they certainly do seem to match the look of the rest of the hardware.

I should also add that I'm an idiot because I have X2000 #1 which has HB1s:

So there's at least two out there. :)

I think it must be time to release it back to the wild
You’d like that, wouldn’t you. :)

Sadly, it needs a repair.

I dug out GAD's NGD thread where the damage is discussed:

What a beautiful guitar! As you stated over here you will not let a nice guitar die ;)

My X2000 has HB1's too, and I'm preparing to sell it - sorry for you @drc it's a lefty!

BTW @GAD since you mentioned it, is there any chance that the NightbirdArchives page is "translated" into modern website code and made open to the public again? I would be willing to support the process if I can! To be honest though, I am quite a duffer as soon as I get near a computer...

I found another one with HB1's (I think), so this makes it four. Good luck tracking this down 🤞;)

Maybe someone knows the seller?

They might not be original to that guitar, look at the extra holes in the rings. So that guitar had other pickups at some point in time and those HB-1 might be simply replacements. There are "a lot" of converted EMG to HB-1 Nightbirds out there (like my one) but Dave is looking for one with original HB-1.

EDIT: Obviously they were original, see Reverb ad description from seller.

The seller explains that he took the original HB1's out and put them back in. But yes, it has been touched, definitely!
