Just a dream come true. This experience has been my most rewarding regarding guitars. I simply con not convey with mere words how ecstatic I am with this guitar. It truly exceeds all of my wildest expectations. She arrived last Thursday, and since, I've had a hard time taking care of things like yard work and errands since her arrival. I need a name though, and need help. My Collings D2HA is "Colleen", and now I need a name for the D1A? Fingerstyle is an absolute dream on this thing. I didn't think anyone built a guitar as light as a Santa Cruz, but this one is......light as a feather.

As far as a new Adirondack top? Well if this thing "opens up" anymore, I'll have to find a way to mute it. Loud and very articulate. I happen to have a Tone-rite and put it on this beauty last night, and still running. To tell you the truth, I thought long and hard about using the Tone-rite on her as I don't see/hear any room for improvement, but I've got the Tone-rite, so decided it won't hurt a thing.

I was thinking of something beginning with a "C" or "K" Walrus. Hence, my D2........."Colleen Collings".:giggle:

Ah! I was matching up the model number! Duh!

But I do like the similarity in enunciation between "Colleen Collings" and "Katie Collings" or something. Up to you!

Play it more, and see what name comes to you that feels right...

I'll tell you all, I NEVER thought I'd ever be able to afford a guitar like this. LTG members made it happen, and I couldn't be more proud to belong to a group like this. I'll post more pictures as time allows.........actually about to crank up the zero turn, but only because the new Collings is on the Tone-rite right now.

So I saw that Tone Right on the Stew Mac site a while back. Does it make a difference or equivalent to playing a long time? I recently purchased a couple older NOS unplayed Guilds, one with an Adirondack top.

I think it helped my old D25 a bit Bob, but it's hard to say. This is my first try on a new guitar, so I'll let you know. I'll say this........there isn't much room for improvement, if any. I will try it on my Collings CJ because she hasn't gotten nearly the play as the others.

You know, the Tone-rite isn't something people should have to go out and buy.......you use it for 3 days, then you're done. What I should do, or any of you for that matter should do is rent these things out. Say $40 for couple of weeks. It's a lot of money to spend for just a few guitars. Fortunately I got a super deal on mine.

Love that top and not heard one negative thing about Collings dreadnaughts. Enjoy and from what you and others have said, it must check ALL the boxes

What a beauty! I would have kept my DS1-A if the neck profile wasn't so gigantic.

Beautiful guitar. I used to play regularly at a jam in Paradise, CA with a gentleman who had a Collings mandolin and another who played a Santa Cruz guitar. Regrettably, both instruments perished in one of the Paradise fires, probably ten years ago. Fortunately, both musicians were out of town. Everyone I knew from that jam lost their homes. Whew! A temporary downer there. It was while I was attending those jams that I started playing bass seriously. That turned out to be a great thing. It was amazing how many more invitations I received along with the caveat, "and bring your bass!"
