So my take so far on this guitar is yeah she’s pretty nice . I can’t compare it to other D55’s less The Westerly one I had for a short time . Some has mentioned that NH was the best years and from a few that went through my hands they did sound good and there tone heck I don’t know for sure but learning more towards the modern tone .

Just when I think I know something I start thinking to hard and my brain locks up and I realize I don’t know nothing . lol šŸ˜‚ with that said it’s a grain of salt thing .

So tonely it’s crisper/brighter then the Westerly was . We all know Guild is all about balance and this guitar has it in spades . Overtones , compared to my Blueridge which is the only other dreadnought I have are very close between the two . I have to lean a bit more to Blueridge having bit more but the Blueridge is an older guitar with a lot more play time .

As far any other comparison goes between the two tonely the Guild pulls away as it should . The D55 /D55 70th is one smooth operator . Haha 🤣 bass it well pronounced and rounded , notes don’t get lost or sound dull at least not yet . Highs are clear with nice sparkle but not harsh . The C shape neck , I might call it a soft C , it’s comfortable not the baseball bat that some have . I don’t notice a difference between the Blues 1 3/4 nut and D’s 1 11/16’s . Without measuring string spacing feels similar .

What did notice right off the bat was D55 seemed bigger which I don’t recall from when I had the westerly d55 . I had either forgot or never noticed the Westly as having a 16ā€ lower Bout. The Blue is 15 1/2 everything else seems about the same as body depth goes . But the 1/2 inch difference was noticeable .

So it turns out that my post about Pleking was done by the Store as they have the said Plek machine and do setups with as a standard setup at least that’s how it was said to me . The original owner traded the guitar in for Santa Cruz why ? Unknown but he/she was older maybe the 16ā€ bout was the reason ? Might as well have a jumbo under your arm . lol šŸ˜‚ I don’t feel that the guitar has a lot play time on her no pick scratches or the likes etc .

What else can I say ? Fit and finish is spot on . Neck is straight as an arrow meaning no waviness or dreaded 14 fret hump . The box is built pretty light I figure as this is the first guitar that I noticed that you can feel the sides vibrating . Usually just the back does , maybe I just never checked the other guitars recently for that but I will now ! lol šŸ˜‚
A tune or many will be coming .
If I missed something let me know . 😊

Play it hard for a while. It takes those Adi tops some time to break in. The crisper/brighter is also an Adi thing.
