But now the reality - some things I didn't pick up from the pics before receiving it and one (possibly) nasty surprise.
First up, the seller's description (in German and Googletranslate English):
rare original GUILD - M 70 USA Custom Shop , Topinstrument in bestem Zustand !
rare original GUILD - M 70 USA Custom Shop, top instrument in best condition!
The guitar is in the best condition with only minor signs of wear. There is no damage, major quirks or other errors. The neck is perfect and enables first-class playability with low strings, the frets are still perfect and without significant wear and tear.
1. No G shields on the knobs - should have picked this one up really. Anyone got any to sell? GAD?
2. The finish is much more yellowed than you might imagine from the photos. Perhaps that's a mercy. If it stays with me I suspect a refinish to black may be in its future.
3. Lots of random (if ignorable) black marks to the finish and some damage from one of those awful wall hangers that seem to damage all guitars - perhaps it was hanging in the sunlight which caused the yellowing.
4. No nice croc case
The case looks brand new, perhaps he kept the croc one for himself. I hadn't realised till i did some more digging after purchase that they had lovely croc cases as stock.
5. A chip to the back - I can tolerate this, to be honest
6. A concerning crack right at the nut. It's clearly not new and the seller clearly did not photograph it.
What do you all think about the last thing? If you're going to describe something as "without damage" and "in the best condition" then it needs to be true IMO.
