I broke down and bought another S-200 today. Got a very nice deal ($499) from Strings 'n Things in Concord, NH and dealt directly with Mike, the owner. Strings 'n Things comes highly recommended. Obviously, you all know what it looks like, but here's a generic photo. I decided on the black finish. I ordered a gig bag from Guild. I also ordered a tortoise shell pickguard last night off Ebay. When it arrives, I'll take it in for a setup and get the guard installed. I could have bought one directly from Guild, but they are out of stock and aren't expected until August at the earliest.

The guitar arrived Thursday and it looks good and plays nicely. Pretty cool having two S-200s again. Of course, the Hagstrom Tremar is completely worthless. I'll have my tech screw it down and disable it.

Graphite nut will sort the trem out, or you can just get the nut touched up.
Bunch of things you can do, but it's the nut that proves the 80/20 rule.

Have you installed a graphite nut on an S-200 and what was the outcome? We tried lubricating the nut on my first black S-200 after my tech cleaned up the nut slots, but after working on it for awhile, he called and said he couldn't get it to stay in tune, so I told him to screw it down and disable it. I then wound up selling the guitar to a friend, who removed the Tremar and installed a Bigsby.

If the Tremar doesn't work, no big deal, really. I rarely use a whammy bar to begin with, but I'll be taking the guitar in for a setup soon, so I'll ask my tech about it.

I used a graphite nut, locking tuners and a roller bridge on my DeArmond. I can divebomb the bigsby and it comes right back to pitch every time.
