Walter, If I'm not mistaken on that guitar you had the pu's rewound or even put real vintage pu's on it. So would the repositioning of the lead pu closer to the bridge work as well (twang) with the reissue pickups as they are ? The reissue pickup is quite a bit hotter than the original Franz pu. (May be a stupid question..)

I have old pickups in that guitar. The placement of the pickup changes the sound of it, doesn't matter what kind of pickup it is.

I just bought and saved a gorgeous blonde X-170 with guildsby from a fire two days later...in Scotts Valley Ca tuesday August 17 2020 and I want her to sound just like this!
She has too- large flatwounds, real high action, and humbuckers so I need to see if DeArmond Dynasonics would fit right in.
I asked the seller geeze where is this smoke coming from? he said all over, and he had to evacuate yesterday. I have a 63 Vibroverb with 15" JBL D130 F that I will introduce her to soon. GREAT playing!!! Not sure of the year but shes Westerly made
I started on a Starfire III in 1964 when I was 14. Also had humbuckers I didnt like.
