Beautiful guitar! I had one of those for a while. Prolly should have kept it... but through a string of trades I ended up with my 000-28EC. And some cash in my pocket!

I guess I'm not welcome and will leave.

- - - Updated - - -

Sorry for wasting your time with a non Guild.
Please stay !!!!! That is a beautiful D-41 ! We love beautiful guitars! I think LTG is the only forum that does like other brands as well, some other forums kick you out if you even dare talking other brands... So please stay!

The only recommendation for the future: Instead posting it under "Guild Gear" > "Acoustic/Acoustic Electric" it should be under "Other Gear" > "Guitars & other stringed...".
Maybe one of the moderators is so nice to move the thread there.

Seems like JF-30 originally posted here, on LetsTalkGuild about three weeks ago, to tell he was selling a Martin D-35...
His reason for posting the very thread on which we are, was to say he had traded it (+ some money) against this D-41, and kindly show it to others I think...He is looking too for a Nick Drake model M-20 too...I think he should then be forgiven for his liking Martin guitars :)smile-new:).
Congratulations, great guitar for a non-Guild guitar :very_drunk: (just kidding, great guitar that's all :friendly_wink:). And welcome; Nick Drake's music is a good source of inspiration.

Looks like a very nice guitar. Pretty ornamentation, helpful fretboard markers ; only what's really needed, good choice !
But may I ask how come a Martin man can be hanging out on a 'LetsTalkGuild' forum :smile-new: ? (Just curiosity).

I say flay him, dunk him in vinegar, and only then let him hang on the forum...maybe.

I too love looking at all guitars, especially those with lots of truthful mojo. I think there should be a subforum on this site titled “Guitar Porn”, and not limited to guild guitars.

Congrats, love these Martins... I only have a HD-28 these days that I love. Never was lucky enough to to own a D-41. Great luck!

Neil Young has had pretty much anything he wanted since about 1970. But, yes, he's played a D 45 a bunch. But pick up most any Martin dread and if you are a certain age, you just start playing Young, CSN, Eagles, et al songs. It just feels so right, especially in drop D and dbl drop D tunings. This guitar thing is perplexing, as I've played many Martin dreads that have left me cold. Then you run into a bunch at one place at one time that are incredible. Odd that though I've played far fewer, I can't recall a dog D 55. But right now Gryphon has two 60s D 28s and two D 18s, all priced $6K+ for the 28s, $4k+ for the 18s. Worth every cent. Damn.

But check out that F 50 if maple is your thing.

Done.

For the record we tolerate and even encourage discussion about other brands. Just depends upon how nice everyone is being :)

Congrats, that indeed looks like a "lifetime guitar", as someone else previously opined. :encouragement:

Well, here's the bubble-buster:
There's no evidence Drake ever played an M20, the connection only started getting "airplay" when Volkswagen used his tune "Pink Moon" for an commercial back in the '90's I think it was, and folks trying to find out who it was discovered the Bryter Layter album cover pictures him with an M20.
That guitar has been credibly reported to have merely been left in the flat formerly occupied by Eric Clapton that the photographer for that album cover had moved into.
Or maybe Clapton gifted the guitar to the photographer, in any case, for the camera session it was nothing more than a prop.
(Which doesn't detract from his artistic accomplishments one bit. )
Back to the subject at hand, when JF-30 first joined here he mentioned leaving his favorite Gibson forum in a huff, so I guess it's just our turn.

there is no evidence Drake ever drove or owned a Volkswagen. As far as I heard, he walked everywhere.

What brand shoe was he wearing?
the only shoes he ever wore, that pair on that album cover. allegedly, got the pair from his mom.

I'm still here but when a comment like this is made "I say flay him, dunk him in vinegar, and only then let him hang on the forum...maybe." I could care less about posting much. I'm a big boy and can take it and if I was allowed to comment on that statement and say what I wanted I would be booted immediately cause its a kid friendly site.

Yes there is no known video of Nick playing. His first album Five Leaves Left, I am not a fan of, Bryter Layter has some great stuff on it and Pink Moon is my fav of the 3. He was a deeply depressed disturbed guy.

John Martyn wrote the song Solid Air about him.
