Traded my D-35 and cash for this. I've said it before but his is pretty much it. I'm done. I may sell the D-28 and D-18 as well.

Keep at least three. If one needs to be at your luthier's, you still have two that you can play. And one of those two will be favored over the other.
And super nice looking Martin!!!

I have right now a D-15M, my I beater, a 000-28, D-28, D-18, J12-16-GT and the D-41. I love the D-28 but the 41 is superior. The 18 is nice and the 000 is a keeper. I have 4 of those bears named Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young and they are battery operated and when you squeeze then they harmonize.

When Martin gets it right, they're truly hard to beat. If it sounds anywhere as nice as it looks, you're a lucky guy!! Congrats!! :encouragement:

I think Dapmdave said it best about his Martin 000-28 (EC), and it has haunted me ever since "there is a difference"

Been thinking about one ever since.

Looks like a very nice guitar. Pretty ornamentation, helpful fretboard markers ; only what's really needed, good choice !
But may I ask how come a Martin man can be hanging out on a 'LetsTalkGuild' forum :smile-new: ? (Just curiosity).

No matter what guitar you play, you can learn something on LTG. Plus we never give up on converting one to putting a Guild in their stable. And I love his user name.

I had a Guild, see my avatar and name. The guitar pictured on the bed is the actual one I owned. Want another one. The Nick Drake M-20. I dig all Hog guits. There not in many stores to play. I like to try before I buy. I've played a 000-28 EC and there is a huge difference. The EC is head and shoulders 10 times better IMHO than a standard, and priced as such. I traded my Gibson BB King for it.

From his name it looks like he might have been a Guild guy, then converted into becoming a Martin man (still several Martins and no Guilds in his signature)...Careful that he doesn't convert you into a Martin man... :smile-new:
Glad to read it's not a crime here to enjoy other guitars too (I've got both brands)...I learned there are some real great Guilds here too.

If having a non Guild is a crime than I know that many, maybe most of us would be guilty. I'm out of Martins now but still have what I believe to be 6 stellar Gibsons.

No worries, some people might tease you here about not having a Guild, or liking other makes better, but it is usually more hiùmor than anything else...This being said, I have considered Guild as a make that had quality guitars at a more affordable price than others, guitars that were sturdy, reliable and real good, but not quite as much as bigger names...
I have learnt here that Guild has made guitars that can match anything done buy Martin or others, or even beat them. I'd say it would be more a matter of taste, of liking someone's ways or style better than others'...
It's a pleasure to see a nice Martin guitar here, but quite surprising still (that"s why I had asked)...

You can tell I am a Bozung man but have owned several Guilds (all wonderful guitars) and still own two with another one committed, too. And no "hate mail," yet.
Really, been helpful to me!

Beautiful! I'd love to see a close up of the fretboard inlays if you get a chance - do they represent anything?

Gorgeous! That’s a lifetime guitar for many. I had a nice OM-28 that was a pleasure to play and had glorious overtones. I do miss it but ultimately it wasn’t the right guitar for my needs right now. I can see myself getting get another some day.

Other than ornamentation what is it about the 41 that makes it that much better than your 28? I’ve played a D28 which was terrific, but have never tried one of the 4x series.

I have but one Guild, my D 35. I have three Martins, soon to be two, a 00 15 custom and a new to me D 35 custom. Then there is the 65 Epiphone Texan. No Guild I have ever played has given me the iconic tone of a Martin dread. My Guild does not sound the same as a D 18. Wish I had a D 18 IN ADDITION.

I have played more Guilds I wouldn't want to own, more than perhaps any other brand, just as I have played even Brazilian D 28s I wouldn't want, and lord knows Gibsons have been very spotty to say the least. But my beautiful sounding Guild D 35 doesn't have the punch to hang in a bluegrass setting like a good D 18 or Dxx Martin. I'd love to have a D 55 too.

And its odd that my particular Martin D 35 custom is very unlike any Martin D 35 I've ever played, much more clarity in the low end, perhaps due to the Koa wedge or the rosewood fretboard and bridge, or Brian Kimsey's very slight mods. I bought it because it is what it is. Typically I don't like them. If you want to be brand centric go ahead. Heck I don't understand guys who own ten D 28s either. My Texan does things no non Gibson will do. Ditto the Guild and Martins. Heck, I was enjoying the Taylor barritone I was playing yesterday. Hard to make a too bright baritone.LOL.
