HOLY CRAP!! What a BEAUTIFUL little guitar!! And the sunburst just makes it all the more tasty! Love the stars. Love everything about it. Can't wait to hear a report. Be careful opening that baby up, depending upon the weather. Congrats!!

Oh my, what a present for Christmas !! You've got me lusting Watasha.

And, semi-gloss finish too. All that needs is a wider nut than the spec. F20. Did you ?

Well done mate.

"The thing's hollow — it goes on forever — and — oh my God! — it's full of stars!"

Beautiful guitar Watasha.....

OK, so does anyone know the significance (if there is any) of the layout of the stars on the headstock?

Looks like it's still 1 11/16" nut Gary, but a beauty nonetheless. Here's the listing for the natural top version that Reno's Music is selling on eBay. Good bunch of people there. I got the best price from Mark when I was considering an Orpheum 12 fret a while back.

Thanks for the kind words guys & you're right twocorgis, those guys are a real pleasure to deal with.

@ tommym: The stars were a collaboration of the Reno's Music guys & Ren Ferguson. From what I understand Gibson had done something with stars years ago & that is where the idea originated from.

@coastie99: I love the small ones myself. I LOVE my D55 no doubt but she's a little big (and loud) for some situations. Between her & this one I hope to have all my bases covered.

OK .. I'm confused. My understand is that Guild doesn't do individual custom orders. Other than the standard F20 and the now archived GSR F20, I'm not aware of any other F20 releases. Have posted that an F20 built with red spruce top and braces, and hide glue .. Orpheum-like .. would really interest me. Is that what this is?

Ah yes, the Gibson Starburst! The guitar player in my band has one just like this one

It's all maple, and came in a natural top, a really ugly green, and an even uglier fuchsia. Yes, it sounds like hell unplugged.

Cool! I played the Custom Shop F30 with stars and thought it sounded phenomenal; I'm very eager to see your playing report. In the meantime, congratulations!

@ Larsonguy: Well this being a collaboration between a business & not an individual could change that rule. Also the fact that multiple guitars (apparently 20) were ordered might also have something to do with it. I think it has a Sitka top (not positive). I DO know that it has Adi bracing, all the US Guilds do unless I'm badly mistaken. As far as hide glue, I have no idea. All I know is I've never seen another F20 like this one.

Watasha ... whatever the case, congrats on a real sweet guitar. I'd be interested to know what the nut is 1 11/16 or 1 3/4 inches .. and .. if the top is Adirondack (red spruce) ...

I think as long as a shop orders a certain number it can be done. Reno's had several Custom Shop "Custom Star" F-20, F30R, F-30RCE, F-47MC and F-47R ordered in NAT and ATB. Discussed in another thread.

And a big congratulations to Watasha! What a Christmas gift!

When I was at the Guild Plant in Sept I was offered the chance to pick up and play whatever was hanging up ready to be cased and delivered. I picked one from the rack that was beautiful and it was the same build as this one. I asked about it and the folks sitting nearby told me it was going to Bizarre Guitars and that is where I could get one. They were custom orders for that particular store I was told. The ones I saw. They said it was in Indiana. The reason I asked is because I thought they were beautiful. Congrats on your purchase. Maybe you could tell us what you paid(nervy on my part, but...) so others know whether they can afford one ! I know they were fairly pricey when I checked when I got back to NC. I grew up near the plant in NH and was lucky enough to get a nice tour. That is one fine group of craftsmen. Phil D
