I thought I'd post pics of my recently acquired 2001 Fender American Stratocaster. It came with a Fender gig bag, so I picked up a cool G&G gray tweed case on craigslist. It's only got a few nicks by the bottom strap lock which aren't so visible. The official color is chrome blue, and it seems to change depending on the light.

I've wanted another Strat for a number of years after selling my heavy-ass '76 big headstock Strat, and I opted for a dark rosewood fretboard this time. Ideally, I wanted an Olympic white example with the classic mint green pickguard. I wrote in another thread how I'm trying to bond with this one. I'm still not completely sold that it's "the one," but I think I need to give it a little more time. Anyways, here she is.

I never realized how fuzzy this pic was, but here is the 1990 Strat Plus Deluxe and the 68 Astro Jet that I have. And the Ampeg that lives with my buddy now.

It's heavier than I prefer, and I really wanted to find one lighter. The Fender that got away from me was the '64 DuoSonic II that I bought from a friend that was incredibly light, dynamic, and resonant. I sold it in the 90s when I desperately needed money for a ridiculous sum of $200, and I had trouble even getting that much for it. No one wanted them back then.

My search for the perfect Strat may continue, or I may try to swap the body out for an older, lighter alder body.

If I recall correctly, that's a Gemini VI with the 15-inch speaker, right? I bet your Capri sounds great through it. I love old Ampegs, and I'd love to get my hands on a Jet J-12T II with the EL84s reverb and tremelo.

Very nice! I prefer a rosewood fretboard on strats. Yours is beautiful. You might bond with it yet.

Jp, it's a Reverberocket 2 with the 12 inch Jensen Vibranto speaker. I don't have it anymore. My buddy threw twenties at me until I gave it up. I do have a pretty interesting non-Guild amp. It's an Egnator TOL 50, with a switch that cuts it down to 10 watts. You can get some Stones tones out of it pretty easily.

(y)Wow, what a beauty, jp!! It looks to be very pristine and, of course, there's the color......
I know, right? It's my first blue guitar. I'm also obsessed with Gibson Manhattan Blue LPs and Blue LP Studio Lites.

Ah. I think I'm confusing your Ampeg with one of capnjuan's faves. 😖
I've been really curious about the Egnators. I read rave reviews about how they sound but also comments on reliability issues.

I bought a new reverb tank for it. The biggest problem I see is everything is mounted on a single board and push on connectors are everywhere. It was used and cheap.

I find some guitars are growers, where your initial take is "hmmm, maybe…maybe not" but over time you bond with it. So I've learned not to give up on such a guitar too quick. I've also had guitars where my initial take was "wowza!" but then as I got to know it better things went downhill.

Hmmm. . . Well at least it makes initial troubleshooting arguably simpler to check probable connections.

Yeah, that's been my experience too. Unfortunately, making it my own usually means tweaks and mods, which often might decrease the value. I'm still in the getting-to-know-you period to see if it's the right one to start with. The one thing I loved about my '76 was the slightly D-shaped neck. This one is more a standard Fender C-shape.
