I am primarily an electric guitar player but I have a few acoustic guitars for when I get in the mood. I have a handful of older Guild electric guitars but I can’t believe that I have never owned a Guild acoustic! Well, that just ended. I have been wanting a smaller bodied acoustic and stumbled onto this F-30 on Reverb this morning. The ad states that it is a 1979 but I think it is a 1980 based upon the serial number. The seller measured the action and sent a photo of the saddle and everything looked good. It has a small crack in the top beside the pick guard but it looks like this is easily fixed. It comes with a non-original had case. For $750 I decided it was worth the risk.

I LOVE these. The perfect guitar for those who can't choose between a 000 and a mini-jumbo. One of two guitars I regret not buying in the last say 15 years, was a 70s F30 for $1000. It was a perfect all-arounder.

Decisive move Brad! That’s how you catch the good ones. Looks like a steal at that price. Who says that ain’t no more good deals out there?

It arrived earlier today! I let it acclimate for a few hours before opening as the temp outside is not bad today. No shipping issues and it is in better condition than I was expecting. The action is just how I like it, it plays great and it sounds amazing. I am really happy. I have already talked to my local luthier and he will address the top crack from the shrinking pickguard and do a general inspection.

I will post some photos when I have had time to polish it up a little.

I sent a message to the seller asking what strings he used as they sound great. Any recommendations on strings from people who have experimented with different types on these F-30s?

D’Addario PBs or 80/20’s light gauge are a good place to start. Usually one or the other works well.

Awesome looking guitar and, wow, that's an enviable price! I've got two jumbos and have been looking for a smaller-bodied acoustic. Does anybody know how different the body sizes are between the F30 and JF30s?
