So after the '97 Starfire II I told myself "That's it! I do not need another guitar..." I was the first one to call about this on local
Craigslist--he told me he'd hold it until I could get away to see it. Picked it up a couple of hours ago. 2007 Tacoma build--
virtually flawless--he even dropped the price $200 when he found out how much I loved Guilds. Quite different sounding
from my '65 F-212--so it passed my "only buy something if the sound isn't redundant" test. So now I have guitars from
every location except California and China. Phew!

It is certainly a looker. Make your eyeballs sweat and - I am sure - your ears perk up.

He was the original owner...also had a PU installed later. He sold it to me for $1000. He said he bought it and a number of other
guitars and basses back then because he kept getting "free" credit cards in the mail. That single truss rod neck is a bit different
from what I'm used to on my '65...and a non-flat fretboard--weird!

Tacoma-built Guilds are my favorites! I owned a 2006 F-412NT for years until I found my '71 F-312NT.

Enjoy that GREAT guitar!

Beautiful guitar spoox. Is that back one piece? Fantastic. Congrats on one heck of a good deal.

Apologies for the buttt-inski but I believe F412's have an arched laminated maple back "by definition". The only exception I can think of is the earliest F512's were labeled "F412 special".

But the 2 "outside" layers are single sheets of maple veneer, with in inside "bulk/stiffness" sheet, larch was mentioned as being used in Westerly for example.

An interesting detail, in Westerly at least, is that the veneer sheets were acquired in lots that were typically sheeted from a single flitch, so the grain of any 2 consecutive sheets is almost identical. Allowed 'em to position the inside and outside sheets so that it looked like one piece, the grain matches inside and outside on inspection.

Since they glued up the sheets into laminations in house in Westerly before putting 'em in the archback press, it was easy to make sure to match the grain on the tonewood veneer.

Actually don't know if they did that in Tacoma, but I got a suspicion they would.

Yeah, very nice piece, Spoox, congrats!

You already answered my curiosity about whether it's a 1 or 2 truss rod build, and '06-'07 seems to be when it happened.

But speaking of the backs, I realized there's a new question: does the inside and outside grain pattern match on the back?

Tomorrow I'll take it outside in the light and look--our house is kept so dark that vampires could cavort around inside during daylight hours. The photos are the ones posted by the seller--my camera is still stuck in Escondido at my friend's house. I had an actual pre-Fender Tacoma guitar I sold to another friend when I got my NYC F-20 so I expected the quality to be up to snuff for this Guild. This and my R-35SE are my fanciest Guilds--most everything else Guild
are the basic models--Troubadour, Freshman, etc.

Well, the grain patterns do not appear to match. I guess I'll try to return it...or use my graining tools to duplicate the outside back pattern...

By now I should realize my sense of humor often doesn't work over the internet...I can be fussy over details on some things, but I'm not insane...
well, if buying yet another 12 string isn't a sign of mental illness...I played it an hour ago, so I guess I'll keep it;)

Yeah, spoox must be joking! $1,000 for a flawless Tacoma F412? That's the deal of the century. That's even better than the incredible deals I got on... well, all of my Guilds were incredible deals. ($1,400 for an Oxnard F512? Well, it was slightly damaged, but it's fixed and near new now!)
