Having grown up in my parents' antique shops, and having my own for almost 50 years, I've run into textbook "anal-retentive" personality types.
"I like this desk, it's just what I've been looking for, but what is this black stain--ink? And this drawer's keyhole escutcheon looks slightly different
from the ones on the other drawers...has it been replaced? And there appears to be a piece missing from this gallery finial--what can be done about that?"
"Well, Madam, the desk is from about 1840...perhaps you might try Ethan Allen Furniture?"

By now I should realize my sense of humor often doesn't work over the internet...I can be fussy over details on some things, but I'm not insane...
well, if buying yet another 12 string isn't a sign of mental illness...I played it an hour ago, so I guess I'll keep it;)
I got it. Some of my deadpan deliveries fail, too. :D

Thanks for the update!

Couple of related anecdotes:

When I first got my D25, I didn't realize the backs were laminated, myself. One night while looking at the grain I noticed that a "peak" in the pattern faced one way on the outside, and the other on the inside, but obviously the same "peak".

The light went on and I realized it must be a lamination and that in fact it was actually a "plus" for durability since a lamination is stronger than solid wood of same thickness and also virtually crack-proof.

After I joined here and mentioned that, one of the old Westerly hands (Hideglue, I think?) mentioned he was a little surprised it passed QA as it actually would have been considered a cosmetic defect.
and....
A few years later a new member from Greece joined up and was raving about his F65ce (maple body archback). He was convinced the back was solid because the grain matched inside and outside, and he wouldn't accept that it was in fact laminated that way on purpose..

So I was going to post that I was going to get some letter and number stamps to put the serial number and "Made in USA" on the back of the headstock, but realized that too might be taken seriously. However, I do have a question: Were all of the Tacoma Guilds devoid of serial numbers stamped on the headstock?
By the way, pics of the guitar had my friends (even the non musicians) in awe. I love the fact that though larger than my F-212, it's not that much heavier than
the '65. Just one week ago at this time I spotted it on Craigslist--I didn't call him because it was so late and when I left a message for him in the morning
I figured it would already have been sold...so, like so many things in my life, I guess it was meant to be...(I upset the TA in my philosophy class at UCLA
when we had to state whether we believed in free will or determinism--and I said I was a fatalist).
