Hello all! New member here. I've been jonesing for a Guild for years now. My local shop has a bunch of Westerlys that have gone unsold for ages. Mostly Gibson fanboys in my area. Today I finally bit the bullet and purchased the Blues 90. It's everything I expected it would be. I was going to buy a starfire iv, but the blues 90 was calling my name. Anyway, glad to finally be a proud Guild guitar owner.

A beauty! What an entrance! Welcome!

This sentence from your post is going to intrigue a lot of members here: My local shop has a bunch of Westerlys that have gone unsold for ages.

Nicer top than the one I had for sure, and mine was pretty nice.

Yeah Twocorgis, I read that they typically have a flame top while mine appears to be quilted, yeah? Yeah, my local shop is run by a guy that doesn't really have an online presence. He's got a bunch of Westerlys. He sold a manhattan for christmas, a gsr. He has a star fire iii, iv, and an x-150 yet. All unpurchased for what, 20 years?

Glorious!

I'd definitely be interested in knowing a nice detailed list of what your shop has! Or, I guess, their phone number. :)

Very nice, congratulations & welcome. I've just about scratched every Guild itch I have but a red or green Blues90 is still on the wish list. Enjoy yours.

Welcome to the forum!! That's a beauty, alright! That quilted maple looks like a stormy red sunset or something. Glad it's living up to expectations. Congrats on a great guitar!! (y)

Nice introduction photo!

Does your Blues 90 have a beefy neck? My friend had one and it had the biggest neck I have ever felt on a Guild. He ended up selling it because of it.

Mine was a 1997, and had a huge neck. Like you said, biggest one I ever felt on a Guild.

My Goldtop Bluesbird is the winner in the neck department if memory serves.

Likewise, my Blues 90 has the largest neck profile of any Guild I've played, but it's not exactly an unplayable baseball bat, either.

From GADs pdf archive, year 2000 catalog.
Was Guild already building electric guitars in Corona in 2000?

According to the Guild Guitars wikipedia page
"In late 2001, Fender decided to shut down the Westerly, RI factory (citing difficulty in climate control and factory production workflow as primary motives)[4] and moved all Guild production to its factory in Corona, California. To ease the Corona facility (which had only made electric guitars up to this point) into making archtop and acoustic guitars, the Westerly factory artisans and workers prepared guitar 'kits' that they shipped to Corona. "
