Finally scored a black one! 😊
Just purchased, not in my possession yet. Will follow up after I get my hands on it.

Holy mackerel it's raining Nightbirds! I hope you like it as much as I like the one I just got. Congrats!

A black one, and chrome hardware, great! Congratulations! What are the pickups in her?

I was just going to post that! Looks like a crazy early one with chrome hardware, no?

Do you have a picture of the back??

If this is the same guitar there should be a set of Dimarzios in the case as well as a note I found in the cavity in back, see second link

Looks to be the same guitar.
Comparing the pictures it is the same guitar. That is cool as this is almost a Guild historic instrument as this note was from George Gruhn to Kim Walker! Hope the previous buyer did not destroy that note and did not keep the original DiMarzio pickups supplied with her!
The seller obviously simply snapped the guitar from GC and flipped her for profit! Hoping for the best here!

Here was Hans opinion:

Also I'm pretty sure Hans would like to know the datecodes on the potentiometers! And hopefully a picture of the handwritten note!

The pickups and note are and no longer with the guitar.
Did the seller explain what he did with both? (Unless GC removed them already after beecee returned it to them and the seller never got them?)

I don’t think he bought this from Guitar Center. He has no clue about the pickups and the note. He thought I was nuts questioning the pickups that are currently installed. He’s 90% convinced they are original. I just let it go.

Just comparing the unique pickguards: Left the one drc wanted, right the one beecee gave back to GC.
100% the same guitar.
beecee returnd her on 12/23 to the Albany GC. Can't imagine yet another flipper had her in those last 5 weeks...

The loss of that note is a real bummer! Oh well, dust in the wind......

beecee's original thread stated the GC employee offered to buy the Dimarzio pickups from him, when he first bought the guitar. Those pickups may have simply disappeared when the guitar was returned to GC. as for the note, i don't know that it was ever clear if the note was written on paper or somewhere inside the guitar or cavity cover. good luck getting any info or anything at all from GC on this 5 weeks later. just be happy the guitar wound up with a forum member. beecee didn't really know what he had, and part of the reason he bought it was the return policy at GC. try not to make him feel so bad. I hope DRC enjoys the Nightbird, and offers it here first when he's ready to sell. not so much has been lost with the pickups and notes. at least beecee saw it and reported it all here, so we still have the whole story. Hans has those same OG Dimarzio pickups available if they are needed by DRC or anyone else
