Well, I'm pleased to say I am not one bit disappointed (well one thing maybe, but later).

The guitar arrived today via UPS undamaged and it is every bit as beautiful (maybe more) in person than it was in the pics. I now have several Maple pieces that are, IMHO, stunning. This one is right up there. I just tuned it to pitch and it has a big sound. Clear as a bell which is what I like, but a surprising amount of low end growl as well. It's a keeper.

The date on the neck block was Dec 13th or Dec 18th 1993. I had thought they made a mistake because I thought these were only built in the early to mid 80's but once again, I was wrong. They called it a FG 45 but I think that must be wrong. The label just says G 45 Bld.

The one bitch I had is it was packed for crap. They threw a bunch of styrofoam (sp??) pieces on the box and that stuff just flakes off and attaches itself to the case and it took a bit of effort to take care of that. Still a tad bit more to go but I'll live. I guess if that's my only bitch it's not so bad. Seems I'm always looking for something to bitch about these days. Curmudgeon???? Yes, I do believe so.

Back to my new addition.

I did have an 80's version without the HW Jr. PG that I sold to Shelby. It was an early/mid 80's model.
And the 1983 G45 Hank Jr. Richard sold me is fantastic in every way. Each time I play it, it grabs a little bit more of my heart. Like a good thoroughbred race horse, you ask this Guild Maple Jumbo to do more, it does it! Like the seller, Class piece of work.

I guess I've never heard that people don't like them Richard, but they are a dressed up D30, and I LOVE my D30......great guitars!

Is it not a "Dreadnought" and not a "Jumbo"?

Well technically they are a "dressed up" G-37 as the G-37 wasn't renamed to a D-30 until later.
