Would love to hear it through a Hot Rod Deluxe (hint hint)

A Deluxe Reverb! The trip is something of a blur. Honestly at first I thought you might have a Joe Pass record playing. You sounded that good.

Mrs. Zulu was right in sensing I was about to talk your ear off about guitars and amps and everything and reminded me we were leaving at 8pm on the 8 hour return. I seriously regret not spending more time with you. We'll have to make another trip because I owe you a dinner at Spasso!

Thanks for the kind words. I was really having regrets when I was playing that guitar and waiting for you.
sounds like a plan! Give me a holler if you’re over this way.

Beautiful guitar, and a great reminder how LTG is by far the best forum on the internet. I have a good LTG NGD story too, but it will have to wait until it gets back from its spa treatment at my luthier’s.

I think that may be my old X500. It has been many years, but that small mark in the finish on the top of the lower bout looks very familiar. Awesome guitar indeed, and congrats!

There's many reasons why LTG is the best place on the net. This is one of the best: @shihan (Dennis) offered this beauty here for members only, asking only what he paid for it (from @GAD ). Simply put, Dennis "left money on the table" with this deal, just to "keep it in the family". A very kind and generous thing to do. Thank you, Dennis. And by extension, Gary.

It is very special to me because I haven't had many opportunities to have a high-end guitar. I have been very content playing for years with my simple Nightbird 1 and some other good guitars that have passed through. I've always been happy but dreamed someday for the ebony, abalone, and G shield. Also, to finally get myself a real (Guild) jazz guitar... it sort of validates a lot of years of playing. I'm still a jazz hack, but I love it. It has been hard to explain to others but this is such a happy NGD for me!

There's been other great photos of this guitar posted here before, but more is better, right! The X500 and new family photos!

Every time I see pics and posts like this I think, man... why did I sell that?

It’s easy to forget what drew you to a particular instrument if you haven’t played it in a while. I almost sold this 1990 Gibson Chet Atkins Tennessean last year & had been offered my asking price - then pulled it out of the case & spent some time with it. All the good stuff came rushing back. Surprise, surprise - couldn’t let it go!

I think I owned OP's guitar at one point - maybe 8 years ago? Definitely one of those "what was I thinking?" sales.

I feel you. Even though I didn’t bond with the skinny neck, it took me a couple years to finally part with it. It played and sounded so good I kept thinking ‘maybe I’ll get used to the neck’.
