I would love to find a black Starfire VI to complete the black semi hollow Starfire set! I have seen a few Ebony Starfire VI but I don’t recall ever seeing a black one. It makes sense to use the Ebony finish as you can see the figure through the finish on the VI. Has anybody seen a 60’s black Starfire VI?
Yes, there were quite a few Starfire VI models with an Ebony finish produced, but not that many 'Black' ones. So far I have seen two of which one I used to own. It was an instrument from 1966 with the neck joint at the 16th fret, which I prefer. However it was originally set up with a Bigsby B-9 vibrato unit, which I did not prefer, so I sold it when I found a Starfire V Black from 1965 that I still have.

Sincerely,

Hans Moust

It would be totally cool, but... think of the fingerprints. The scourge of black guitars. ;)
