Welcome aboard Tony! The D25 has a sorta cult following around here, haven't met anyone with a bad word to say about them. Not many days go by where I don't pick up and play my D25M. Enjoy the insanity here at LTG.......

Tony, Welcome to LTG! I have a '74 D-25M in my stable... and love it. It spends most of its time in DADGAD, where it just sings! Enjoy... and post some pics! Dave

Believe it or not - thats what mine is in right now. It sounds so nice i took the tension off of my Larrivee and put it in storage . Easy to see why theirs a cult following for that model .

Welcome to the club, Tony. You're obviously a man of fine musical taste :D

I've had my D-25M just over 32 years now, it was my only guitar for most of those years. Still sings like an angel :D

Welcome, Tony.
My D25 is also a '79 and it sings even when it's hanging in the rack. Not a day slips by that I don't put my hands on it for a tune or ten.
Sometimes I just like to cuddle it! *I don't know of a cure for this particular illness, and I'm not really looking for one!!

Enjoy,
Joe

Congrats on the D25 Tony, what a classic. You'll love her for many years. BTW, are you related to the famous author, Dick Burns? He wrote the bestseller, "Sliding Down the Flagpole".

 Welcome and have a blast here.

Hard to say -( thou probaly not ) i get asked about George Burns alot as well - my answer always is his real last name is something like Burnbalm. But my wife and i have authored three books on Scrollsaw Puzzles .

One of the factors that i love about this guitar is that its almost thirty years old and as solid as a rock -if it was a thirty year old Martin it would un-doubfully be in need of a neck reset ( this guitar is not even close ) Im gratefull that it was priced used way within my budget -it really is one of the best sounding Hogs ive ever played - and to think Guild made it one of the value models when it was new - even the guitar top wood is better than most of todays new guitars. i really think most of the new guitars are pumped out with alot of automation and lower quality woods -and another fact thats not though about is that age is always a friend as far as maturity in sound on many guitars . My '71 D-55 is in a class the new ones can't touch - it honestly has a Mastergrade top and a Brazilian Rosewood bridge - that model was actually a special order for that year , i dont think it was really added to the main Guild line until a few years latter. Ive even seen one from around 68 which had BR back and sides ( mine is EIR Back and sides - but really nice EIR )

Hello Tony,

Brazilian rosewood bridges are not uncommon on Guild guitars from 1979.
Actually, you will still see them on guitars from the '80s as well.

Sincerely,

Very nice! Looks (and sounds) like you got a good'un... Pretty amazing that these were the "entry-level" Guild dread in their time, isn't it?

Hello Tony,

Even though I posted that Brazilian rosewood bridges were still possible in 1979, I have my doubts about the bridge on your D-25C. I would probably need a close-up photo to be sure, but right now I would say it's Indian rosewood.

Sincerely,

Hans Moust
