Hey Guitar Geeks!

We got a NS X350 in at the store today, and I made some quickie clips with my little Zoom video recorder. Not quite pro quality video, no close mic'ing, just the recorder in the room with the amp. The amp is a Headstrong Lil' King S, and I also used a Greer "Tomahawk" overdrive pedal on some bits, and an old Ibanez DL10 delay pedal for slapback on the Rockabilly/Travis stuff. The 'verb and trem are from the amp.

I have to admit I was kind of skeptical about these when I first saw the press release, but it's quite the guitar. there are a LOT of different tones in this thing, and the middle pickup doesn't really get in the way like it does on some other 3 pickup guitars. Also, I don't know if it's a one-off coincidence, but the neck on this guitar is positively HUGE - almost Historic Les Paul territory - big, round, fat baseball-batty neck. Which I like, but it might not be for everybody. The finish is almost candy apple red in person, and it's not satin like the new blue X175 specials. I like the looks of it, but that's all personal taste.

Anyway, apologies for the somewhat lo-fi quality of this :

Very cool. Interesting about the big neck - now I want one all over again!

I thought the control layout was a pretty clever way to solve the problem of controlling three pickups, especially given the original's push-buttons. How was it in real life?

Niiiice ! So the 3 pickups really make a difference compared to the "normal" 2 pickup configuration . Tempting 😁

A little confusing at first, kind of logical once you get the hang of it. With that middle pickup, it get downright stratty (but with about ten times as much bass) in some pickup positions, particularly "all three full up".

If I owned one, I'd flip the magnets in the middle pickup for some real out of phase action à la Gibson ES-5 for those T-Bone Walker/Jimmie Nolen/Early BB King Jump Blues tones, but it's pretty interesting stock too.

Saw it in real life in the guitar bar today. Looks really very, very nice to me. I prefer the red color over the blue laquer of the model with dynasonic pu. Neck felt good to me . But I only held it for a minute because I was in a hurry.

Has the 3-pickup layout forced them to nudge the bridge pickup back where it belongs?

But I suppose you can move it there yourself without "cosmetical" damage just like the regular x 175 reissue...
The pu hole will be covered (?) just the distance between the 3 pu will not be equal.
