... even if there are a few prototypes floating around they will make their way on to Reverb / Ebay, and we will end up spending days discussing it šŸ¤£....
Oh yes, there were a few in the last few years that showed up. And that is all part of the the fun we are having here, spotting such odd items and discussing them! There were a few guitars and ukuleles from FMIC times that came to public after New Hartford closed and some were really odd and I think were were glad some never made it into a production version!

Perhaps a revised version of Volume 1?
Well, there could be an option to include an addendum to Volume I in Volume II, where mostly the errors or formerly unknown data could be shown but I'm not sure Hans will go that far... The question is if he plans a 2021 reprint of Volume I (which people would for sure like to see) when such an addendum/correction would make most sense.

I'm sure there are plenty of changes, revisions, and additions that Hans would like to make if there was an opportunity for a revised Volume 1 to release at the same time as the Volume 2. It's the nature of publishing. We, of course, would be so happy! :)

Wow! I don't believe I even knew that blue was a custom color for older Starfires. I think yours is the first one I've ever seen, too. That's really cool! Also, it looks like one of the early super structures that's laminated maple instead of mahogany. That's quite the rare bird you have there. Hans should include it in the much awaited volume 2 Guild Book.

Thanks for posting pics!
I can happily say that @hansmoust is currently sourcing an original pickguard for me! Once this baby gets back to spec Iā€™m gonna have a little photo/video shoot for anybody to share and enjoy. It looks like it had one owner for a majority of its life, and he/she was a finger picker and subsequently removed the guard, hence the pinky nail scratches on the body close to the high E string. The neck is super worn in and feels amazing, woody body warmth with punch from the vintage DeArmondā€™s, fluid and accurate vibrato as well. This guitar, like many well worn Guilds, has an incredible story to tell. It exemplifies the whole ā€œMade To Be Playedā€ philosophy, as does my very first Guild 73ā€™ Bluesbird. And yes, Iā€™m positive that it is laminated maple, that wood grain pattern is undeniable. You can also see the pale maple color behind the badge from the sound hole in the above images. Iā€™m holdinā€™ on to this one for sure, hopefully some of its mojo will rub off on me šŸ¤žšŸ¼šŸ¤žšŸ¼šŸ¤žšŸ¼

Iā€™ve been enjoying learning guitar on my used NS S-100 for a couple months now! I notice mine is missing a knob position indicator. Anyone have any idea what Guild has used for these, and where to source one? I had the back cavity open and whatever they are seem pretty well stuck in otherwise, dunno how the guitar lost this one

Brilliant, that looks very promising.. just cut one a bit shorter and plop it in is probably my best bet, maybe a dab of glue on the back side
