Hello,

I am new here. I live in Long Beach and recently bought back my 60’s Guild Jetstar that I had sold a few years back.

I joined this board in hopes that I could find help in restoring my 60’s single pick up Guild Jetstar. I love how this guitar plays and sounds event though as you can see it has been heavily modified by the previous owner. They added routes for two pickups. The route for the original single pick up is still there. There is basically a swimming pool underneath the pickguard, so I some woodwork to do.

I am looking for an original pick guard or a template of the original pickguard shape. I would even consider the pick guard shape for the 2 pickup version, but I think I would like to return this guitar to a single pickup. Does have one of these guitars here and are willing to help?

Thank you.

Here is a picture of my guitar

Redstar, welcome aboard. I bought a 64 Jetstar with a homemade PG. I called around and found no one to have a template for one so I found another 65 on Fleabay thinking the PG would be the same. NOT. So I ended up making a template with the 65 gaurd and drilled the mounting holes to match the 64. I can send you an outline of the 65 gaurd and you can buy pickguard material from Stewmac and cut it out your self.
I was told by a knowlegable guitar guru that the mounting hole spacing is random on these Guild solidbody guitars. Something to do with hand drilling the mounting holes. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
Send me a PM with your address and I will send a outline on paper for you.

Great! Thanks. That will work. I am mainly concerned with having the pickguard match the contours of the body like the original pickguard does. As you can see the pickguard on my guitar does not match and it is pretty ugly.

There are already plenty of screw wholes and routes that I am not too worried about the mounting wholes lining up since I have to do a lot wood work to even be able to put a single pick up pickguard on this guitar.

PM sent.

welcome and congrats to the jetstar.
aside renovation, what about making a 3-pickup version, since the holes are already there?
I bet with three "dearmonds?" it would sound magnifcent with all the possibilities?

I've actually played around with that idea. I've thought about putting 3 p-90's or 3 mini buckers in it. Right no I am leaning towards making a 1 pick up guitar refined in burgundy mist. I'll post more pics during my resotration.

Three Dearmonds could sound pretty tasty. Maybe even three Micky Mouse PUs?
