Here's what came to my door today (just the guitar):

It's a very clean 1997 Bluesbird (AAA, I guess). I'm really impressed. Nice-playing, great-sounding guitar when I first strapped it on. Even better after some tweaks to the setup. And wouldn't you know it, its sounds great through the Vibrolux Reverb!

One issue (I had this on a SFIV from the same time period) is loose fingerboard binding. I'll take care of that during the coming week. I wonder how common this issue is and if Guild had a lousy batch of glue back in '97.

Very pretty guitar! We may be seeing Dr. Spivey here, soon. This could be the twin to the '97 bluesbird I sent him a few weeks ago.

You called?

Beautiful guitar. I've got it's twin, no binding problems here.

I bet it does sound fine through that amp. 8)

Bob:

That's a beauty. I'd love to grab one of these. How do you find the neck size/shape?

I wasn't sure what to expect as far as the neck goes. I've had 3 Westerly Starfires (two IVs and a III), and they all had medium-thickness, rounded neck profiles. On this Bluesbird, however, the neck is chunkier. It's not too much thicker, I don't think. The main difference is the substantial shoulders, which give the neck rather a D-shape. It fits comfortably in my hand, and I think it's going to work out well.

Right now the guitar is unplayable until tomorrow. I glued up the loose fingerboard binding this afternoon and there is blue painter's tape all over the neck.
