Hello!

I'm in the UK, and just recently picked up a new-used A25-NTHR from a guitar shop called Manson's in Exeter, England. I think I'm in love...She'll do anything I ask of her and more, but I'm a little reluctant to try open tunings, because I've currently got her strung with Martin .11s, and I don't want to break anything coming up from drop D or open G/D. The action's not high enough for slide, really, but she sounds beautiful with one.

Is there any way to find out more about individual A25 guitars? I'd love to know a bit more about the history of mine, after being fairly blown away by the illustrious lineup of Guild players through the ages, which includes some of my favourite artists...was surprised to see that Tom Petty played, and Glen Campbell. Would appreciate it if somebody could corroborate re: John Fogerty, but it's not the be all and end all.

Hope to get to know you folks soon,

Casey

Thanks, Ian.

I'm afraid I don't quite follow your line on 'coasties' - probably because I don't speak New Zealander as well as I used to. :p (Used to be in regular contact with people in Auckland and Christchurch, which has dried up for one reason or another) Glad you enjoyed your A25 experience, though, and know what you mean...the tone is awesome.

Hello Casey, and welcome to the lounge.

Yes, I too have an A25. Nice little guitar within its "down market" range.

Suits me just fine cos, it has a mahogany body, no bling, 1 3/4" nut and matte (HR) finish. Bought it on Ebay probably three years ago. It doesn't get much playing time unfortunately, I'm not a very dedicated guitarist ! Probably more like a desecrated guitarist actually !

Oh, that's it! I was wondering what the 'HR' bit was. :) Can't wait to see how she records, because I haven't had a chance yet. Been too busy just playing and enjoying.

Thanks for the heads up,

Casey

Hi Casey, welcome to LTG and congratulations to your purchase!
I guess the only source so far is the internet itself. The model might be probably in Hans Moust's upcoming second book, otherwise I did not find good info for the A25. (If you might wonder who Hans Moust is, he is a luthier and member here as well and wrote that famous book that covers Guild guitars until 1977:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Guild-Guitar-Bo ... B001ARTR9W (After you read it you want many more Guild guitars :D )
Some pictures of people using Guild guitars are here on 5 pages: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=23652
I found a video of Alexa Wilding, she uses a Guild Model A25 NT HG (1995) which is the first acoustic guitar she ever owned.

 Hi Shady, and Welcome to LTG from down here in Aus. Those A25s are sweet little guilds, I met one here a few years ago and was very impressed with it. The owner refused my notions of purchase, otherwise it would have been my first Guild.
Anyway, Welcome. Glad to hear you are loving your Guild. Many of us can relate to that kind of affection for these fine instruments.
