Well, thanks again for all the great suggestions.

I ended up taking the SF IV into a local legend here in Seattle who gave me some advice on what to do...it needed a good setup anyway, so I dropped it off for a basic service and I'm putting some Thomastik .12 - .52 flatwound jazz strings on it and lowering the action a bit.

I talked to the tech about the possibility of adding a rosewood/ebony bridge and a tailpiece and he basically talked me out of it...I may lower the stopbar a bit to lengthen the strings slightly, but I'm going to keep the current bridge setup for the time being.

I'll test out how she plays with the heavier strings and I'll probably go up another step to .13's if the Starfire abides.

I didn't get any decent pics snapped before taking it in but I'll have it back in a week or so and I'll start a new thread with some pics at that time.

By the way, I found out that the humbuckers on the IV are actually some kind of transitional type, a bit larger than the standard HB-1. Can anyone comment on the tonal differences between the pickups? Anyone else have both or have the transitional ones?

Again, thanks so much for all the suggestions!
