Is that a plastic drywall-anchor insert getting crushed under the E string? LOL

First I've heard of that "intonator" device. What will they think of next?

Have a friend and he doesn't even have a saddle on his old guitar before Richard P solved his guitar problem with four

I bought a guitar - in a parking lot like the old days - that had been "played" with no saddle, a classical with steel strings on it...

Four what? Don't leave us hanging!
The strings were too high and this is the guitar Johnny G. had when I first reconnected with him in 2017. It was held together by duct tape, a pair of vise grips and a tennis shoe string. Wires hanging loosely but some how he had it amplified through his TV. Not only did he not have a saddle on it but had taken a butcher knife and cut groves toward the sound hole in line with each string to lower the action more.
It was an inexpensive Ovation and he could make it sound like a $3000 guitar. Just amazing!
Let me correct myself after finding a picture. He made a saddle but grooved it deeply then grooved bridge. Said he needed the vise grips for something else

He is doing great attitude wise. Covid has created a hardship on many of his partime jobs so with no money, I know he gets a little down. He has ample food, clothing, and small electric heater. He loves winter better than summer - no bugs or creatures in his house. And Richard has given him four very nice guitars, a Roland Amp like new, strings, picks (which he doesn't use much since he is a five finger picker), mics, mic stands, and many other accessories. He still writes a song or two a month and sends them to me, I still take him anywhere he needs to go - we just try to go on a 50 degree day. My wife and I decided instead of our extra contributions to church, we would continue our normal giving but reroute the extra giving, anonymously, to Johnny G's basic needs like clothes, electric bills, and food. My guitar teacher has been in the hospital for several weeks and that has given me the opportunity to get text message lessons from Johnny and pay him for lessons. We communicate, daily.

Johnny G's living room about 30 minutes ago. Lots of layers and no complaints.

Man, that's just not right. :(
Hard to believe in the year 2021. He is one tough 60 year old. He was hardened to cold weather working winters in Kansas and Wyoming. Worked 12-14 hour days six and seven days a week for seven years. When he came back to his abandoned home place, he did not have electricity the first five years.
He is in the bed covered by mounds of cover or sitting in a chair watching TV. His sitting clothing today was five long sleeve shirts, a hooded sweatshirt, three pairs of pants, two pairs of socks and rubber boots - covered by two blankets. But, please, understand--he wants NO pity. In fact, things are looking up.
