I was pointed this way from a new online friend I was discussing basses with. Tim Sarter from Northern California here. By way of introduction, here’s my pair of ‘68s:
Glad you enjoyed them! After seeing those two beauties I came to realize I’m severely under-bassed. Thanks for sharing a photo of those gorgeous basses.
They look pretty standard to me, but here you go:Those headstocks look crazy thick. Can you give us a depth measurement? I am curious what they measure.
Ha! That’s a nice gig to land. Love the Gretsch too. Loos like he loves playing as much as I do.Hey Tim, welcome to LTG! Your avatar pic reminds me of a guy I used to be in a group with. Well, vaguely reminds me. He's playing a big ol' Gretsch in the pic below, but his ability to also play bass is what got him a gig with Paul McCartney at the Superbowl (in 2002?). He's played live gigs with him ever since. Bass is a good thing to have on your resume!
Cool. Let me know how it compares. I’ve never checked out any of the NS Guilds. Thanks I will compare to my NS Starfire.
Ha! I’ve never noticed that before. That’s pretty much it - looks like they are breaking it up into two inch segments on the red side. So strange!VEER
What is the purpose of that RED SCALE - it seems to be half of normal scale . . . like a built-in-divide-by-two-calculator ???
I thought they looked the same. As I said I’ve never checked out the NS basses. Thanks for sharing this.My 2013 NS Starfire is 9/16 inch deep (14mm).
3 3/4” point to point width on the headstock (widest points like you have in your pics).
So looks the same!
