Hi everybody, I'm a new guy. I've never been on a forum ever before so forgive me. I have had an old vintage Guild looks like 60's or 70's I bought 11 years ago. The guild serial database is hard to understand. How do I figure out how old it is? It's a D40 NT from the westerly plant.

Hello and welcome, nb.

Don't be shy, none of us know what we're doing either.

If you post the serial number, we have a resident expert here (Hans) on everything Guild.
He might be a bit slow to show up 'cause he just got in big trouble insulting the IRS.

Welcome to the house of Guild. Relax, I’m new here too but have been treated very well and made to feel right at home. Lots of great information and knowledge among the members. I’ve been playing for 42 years and constantly learn something new. It’s wonderful. :D

From one Newbie to another - Be welcome and be afraid ... becoming a member of the Guild Forum is a little like voluntary committment to the asylum.

I too had some fun trying to reference my Guild, the Guild serial numbering system seems to have been run by a insane accountant on a permanent mescaline high.

In fact, my exact serial number does not even seem to be recognized on the Guild site. My serial goes a few dozen beyond what the "last" serial of D6's whas supposed to be in 1993, and then 1994 picks up with different alpha prefixes. So I THINK it's a 1993. That's part of what makes this so much fun.

Hello Tunes,

If you have been looking at the 'official' Guild serial numbers, then #KL001210 is given as the last serial number for 1993.
Well, take it from me that they made several hundred D-6s more in 1993 after #KL001210.
So if your D-6 has a serial number that's a few dozen above #KL001210, it was still made in 1993.

Sincerely,

Hans Moust

Hans,

Thanks. Yes indeed that is the number I looked at. Mine is a KL0014??. Any idea what the official "last" number of the KL series might be?

Welcome Dooderino,
As others have advised, always log on with appropriate footwear. And as Mom always said, wear clean socks and clean underwear if you leave the house! If you stay home, play it by ear.

Stay in tune,
Joe
