Here we go with our next Guilds of Grot adventure. Please remain seated and keep your hands inside the vehicle at all times!

In the late 80's Guild came out with their NEW GUTACHITECTURE Catalog. For the most part it was updated models from the MODERN AVIATION Catalog. (Now more Pointy!)

Let's see how the Guilds of Grot does matching this page!

Yep! Got 'em both!

1985 S-284 AVIATOR:

S-284.jpg

1985 x-100 BLADERUNNER:

X-100.jpg

Yeah, mine's missing the BLADERUNNER name below the end of the neck but other than that it's pretty damn close!

Page-2:

Guitarchitecture-002.jpg

Ooh! Got close on these!

Well we already saw the S-284 AVIATOR. (You'd think at least they would have shown a second one with a different P-U configuration!)

!984 X-88 CRUE FLYING STAR:

X-88.jpg

OK, mine's an earlier one with the 3-on-side headstock. (I like it better anyway!)

1986 S-270 SPRINT:

S-270-Sprint.jpg

Yes, so it's labeled a "Sprint" and not a "Flyer". And it's got a pickguard and three single coils. But it does have the symmetrical lower bouts which a Flyer never did. What's that all about anyway? (Do I get points for the Kahler tremolo?)

And we're off to the next post!

And again, very close but not perfect!

1985 SB-602 PILOT:

SB-602.jpg

OK, I have the Kahler but the body is painted poplar and not a big 'ole hunk of maple!

Here, is this better?

1985-SB-602M PILOT: (The Catalog should of had the "M"!)

SB-602M2.jpg

This is an interesting specimen as it is a four string Pilot with two "J" pick-ups. What's going on there?

And now one of the coolest/weirdest guitars ever produced by Guild!

1984 X-92 CITRON-BREAKAWAY:

X-92.jpg

For those of you who don't know this was designed as a "Travel Guitar". The top triangular section releases with the push of a button. It came with a special gig bag with a pocket for the top section. Alas, I do not have the gig bag. (Booooooo!)

And again, so close but but missed it by that much!

1981 NOVA:

X-82.jpg

They took the Nova and updated it with the pointy offset headstock, Kahler Tremolo, dumped the stodgy 'ol pickguard and re-named it the STARFIGHTER. (I can fight stars just perfectly fine with my Nova thank you very much!)

Page-4:

Guitarchitecture-004.jpg

Wah, wah, wah! I got nuthin'!

Close as I can come is the first cousin to the FS-48 DECEIVER

(Yes I know you saw this is a previous post but it plays well here also!)

1985 FS-46CE-6:

FS-46-6-OS.jpg.

And that brings us to the end of another Guilds of Grot presentation. Hope you enjoyed the ride!

Your guitars are angular and beautiful.

Interesting pic of the F-44, headstock looks different than what I would expect.

Another kilker post! In a rare bit of oneupmanship over Grot, my X92 has the bag! Of course I paid way too much for it and will likely cry when I learn what he paid for his...

Nice, the first Aviator S284 in the pics, looks like mine, except mine has a ebony board.

I like the last pic of the 1985 FS-46CE-6:, Is that binding on the sound hole?

I knew you'd bag me! I don't remember what I paid for but I might be able to look it up.

I wish I had documented what I had paid for each of them!

I seem to remember you having the receipts in the cases which is just another way for me to flaunt that I have the case. 🤪

Got my first Guild in 1967.

Started collecting Guilds around 1985.

Haven't done much the last 10 years. (Got married!)
Well... 25 good years of collecting anyway. Just kidding, but priorities do change, that's how it goes.

Keep up the great posts!
