The 1987 GF60R arrived Tuesday and took it straight to Chris Bozung. He glued the neck band in a couple spots, put on some new EJ16s and called me today--said it was ready. It is, indeed, a "ready" guitar. I love the way it feels, plays, and sounds.

Very nice , I like the fret markers . The inside looks a bit shiny did Guild seal the inside ?

Just picked it up and the inside does look sealed or thin coated. I am the 3rd owner and I know the 2nd owner didn't and I didn't so this might be a question for Hans. And it might be what 73 year old eyes are seeing from here?

Rayk:
I emailed Hans and he verified what you saw as correct. Said it was common for Guild to do that during that time period.
And thanks to Hans for sharing his knowledge and sharing it, quickly. From Rayk's question to a certified answer that traveled across the Atlantic and back - in 2 hrs and 23 minutes. As my old uncle Edward use to say about TV, "It's A wonderment to me."

Right, GG. George Gruhn is a really cool guy...so knowledgeable and Guildy in his association. Unfortunately, even with George, Gibson and Epiphone rule, as they do with the rest of the crowd that sells vintage archtops and flat tops. So much for diversity in the guitar world. But we Guild guys and gals know better.

Thanks for all the kind words and been making feeble attempts (many feeble attempts) at playing it and it is a joy.
The only blemish I can find is on the lower back. If you look at the back, you will see a little speckled line across the lower back. Do you think that could be from hanging on a wall and that is where the back rested against the wall for 16 years? Bet it wasn't taken down and played over three times?
Doesn't bother me but if I can polish it out--I will and what with?

Depending on the deepness of the blemish, you could have luck with Virtuoso Cleaner and Polish (they come in separate bottles). I just polished the JV-72 and it responded well.
