I never used to care all that much about the finish on a guitar. It could be natural. burst, red, black or whatever. That was never a driver for me buying a guitar. As I've aged it is more important. Both the grain and the finish on a guitar attract me much more than in the past.
I just picked up this 1990 D 30 in a Walnut finish. It looks very cool although I doubt my pics will do it justice. I'm not that great a photographer and a darker, glossy finish makes it all the more challenging for me so bear with me on this. It's likely a color you see on other Guilds as well but I don't remember seeing them and I'd never owned one. I did have a Starfire IV that was that type color. I sold it though.
I am also getting back my D 30 Tennessee Orange I sold to Rich Cohen a while back in exchange for one of my guitars. Some don't like that finish on an acoustic but I for sure do so I'm looking forward to having both the Walnut and Tennessee Orange D 30's living here with me in Barton City.
Here's my recent D 30 Walnut pickup.
