I am needing to replace the shrinking pickguards on my 59 F50 and a 67 D50. I recently bought a sheet of vintage, tortoise pickguard material on ebay, that i will share the link too. The listing said it was an original sheet from a Guild factory. But it's not near dark enough for my liking. I love the old pickguards that are almost black tortoise. Does anyone have a good source or a link to share for Hoboken style pickguards?

Very hard to find actual vintage celluloid. Most of what you see is laser printed junk, and most times the pieces are exactly the same.

I was watching the same item on eBay that you bought. The price was originally 38 bucks and change, but when the seller arbitrarily raised the price to 48 dollars I deleted the bookmark. (He has a number of Guild parts for sale.)

If you find a good source, please post the link here! I don’t know of one.

The material you linked looks very much like that on my (now sold) '74 G-37 and D-25M.

So Blake, is it clipped down onto a solid white background in the photo? What does it look like when you lay it on an aged guitar top? Does that darken it up any, or is it the same? I'd think it would tone it down a bit on a darker color.

Hey Gardman, I think the piece that i bought is a good match for some westerly guilds. I am looking for that unmistakable, Hoboken style, pickguard color.

Hey DavismanLV, I have laid it out on a number of different guilds tops, and it just seems to red for my liking. I will keep it for future guild projects. It's a pretty large piece that could make 4-5 pickguards from it. If anyone wants a piece of it, let me know, and I will mail you one.

Hey Gardman, I think you are right, that looks very close to this piece i bought. Beautiful guitar pics as well.

Another vote for Holter. Taylor made me a very nice pickguard for a '71 Martin; I asked for a subtle TS pattern and that's exactly what I got. Lengthy discussion of pickguards on the Martin forum: [mine is post #68]
