So now the guessing can start, what the heck does "BT" mean... And the winner is: GGJaguar with "Baritone" !!! (sorry, no price to win...)

Guild just introduced for virtual NAMM 2021:

1) BT-240E Baritone:

"Combining Guild's historically large jumbo body shape and their legacy of pressed back construction, the BT-240E boasts a deep, full-frequency baritone voice to add character to any song."

"Jumbo tone with deep, moody richness, the BT-240E Baritone offers a gorgeous layering of low-end timbre for a unique and mysterious sound. Combining Guild’s historically large jumbo body shape and their legacy of pressed back construction, the BT-240E boasts a deep, full-frequency Baritone voice to add character to any song. The arched mahogany back projects crisp low frequencies, while the solid spruce top provides a balanced delivery. The baritone is tuned B-E-A-D-F#-b, 5 steps down from a standard guitar. Great for filling in an ensemble or for playing standalone, the BT-240E Baritone is a great addition to any player’s arsenal. "

Strings used:

MSRP: US$695

2) BT-258E DELUXE 8 string Baritone:

"Down-Tuned Richness Complemented by two Octaves strings is a match in heaven."

"The BT-258E Deluxe 8-String Baritone offers a melodic layering of low-end harmony for enchanting, harp-like sound. Combining Guild’s historically large jumbo body shape and their legacy of pressed back construction, the BT-258E boasts a deep, full-frequency Baritone voice complemented by two octave strings for added sparkle. The arched rosewood back (dalbergia latifolia) projects whole, low frequencies, while the solid spruce top ensures the high frequency, octave strings blend in gorgeously for a symphonic tone. The low end is great for filling in an ensemble or for playing standalone. The 8-string baritone is tuned B-E-a-A-d-D-F♯-B, 5 steps down from a standard guitar. Deluxe appointments including rosewood back and sides, bound neck and body, and a perfectly glossed polyurethane finish. "

Well, 24x is mahogany arched laminated back.
25x is rosewood arched laminated back.
Both are probably 17" lower bout.
And Baritone scale. (27" ?)

Wow!! Arched rosewood is something new. I was trying to see if there were any braces in there, but I guess not!! (y)

Arched rosewood isn't unheard of from Guild. Chazmo's old Hoboken F50R had an arched laminated Brazilian rosewood back on it.

On another note, I start to worry how much CMG is diluting the Guild brand with this bewildering array of Asian rim product, and if a lot of it is like the D260E that I bought and returned quickly to MF, a lot of it isn't very good, either.

I realize there have been isolated incidents of rosewood arched (thinking of Chazmo's specifically) but I was talking regular production guitars on a regular basis.

I took a flier on the D 260E as well and was underwhelmed but was able to sell it for what I paid for it.

I really think though that these cheaper import models likely fill a need for quite a few buyers from new players to even experienced players for throwing in the truck to go see a buddy or sitting around a campfire or whatever.

I think (or at least hope) players know there's quite a tonal difference between the Westerly Collection guitars and those built in Oxnard and earlier in the Westerly, etc, facilities.

I'm certainly no Marketing expert but Guild seems to be giving folks a lot to choose from in a lot of variety of sizes, tonewoods etc. We'll see how it plays out I guess.

Usually January NAMM models come out between May and July of that year, so you have to wait a bit. Watch big stores like Sweetwater, they usually show them first when they are available.
At NAMM companies bring (well this year virtually show) their prototypes and the big music stores place their orders. Afterwards production is planned and done and they get shipped, so 5-6 month is usually a time until they show up in stores.

There were at least 2 "regular production" arched rosewood back models, but granted they were both pretty short-lived, less than 3 years each:
D5ce(***EDIT: Model actually lasted about 7 years from '94-'01, with a slight model number change from "DC5" to "DCE5" according to the s'n charts, at least. )
F5ce
With the arched-back F50R's that makes 3 and I've got this nagging suspicion there's one more out there I'm forgetting..but for sure, arched rosewood back is the least common of all Guild flat-top body configurations.

I like Baritone guitars a lot, (I have two baritone electrics and a Jerry Jones six string bass), and I've played some baritone acoustics and those are a lot of fun too - and fun to sing to.

But there were two things I was kind of hoping for from Guild this (virtual) Namm - a classic Starfire III with DeArmonds, and a US made F30. oh well. I have a 61 SFIII and I'll get a Hoboken F30 some day.

Taylor introduced around 2010 their Baritone-8 with 27-inch scale length. They had quite a few Baritone models since. And yes, those 8 strings sound very good!
