Just for fun I asked my non-musician 20-something coworker and he said that, based on looks, he would buy the new version cuz he likes the looks of the G-tailpiece.

Thomann in Germany shows both color versions for only EUR 599 and available in 3-4 weeks:

Absolutely horrible.

I agree. Is Cordoba ever going to stop with the dilution of the brand? At this point there's so much cheap Asian rim stuff that it's downright dizzying. And I really don't like the way this bass looks at all.

I don't have any issue with Guild making these basses in China, or wherever they are made. The made in USA topic is a different subject, and while I prefer made in USA Guilds, I don't have any specific geographic/cultural/racial issue with the imports. They are what they are. it is up to the player to make it sound good, and enjoy playing the instrument. so that part is ok.

I'll also say this bass sounds quite good from the demo posted here. At least similar to a Newark Street, which, according to some, sound even better than a 70s humbucker-equipped USA Guild bass. at least the player in the demo makes it sound good (and their rig).

the hardware on the bass though, is awful. just a regular SF bridge/saddles and either Micky Mouse or Bisonic reissue, or something at least disguised as such, would have been a much better idea. The bridge on this is really bad.

This could be a cool toy to scoop up cheap, even as is, just to play. but, u would have to live with the aesthetics. a better idea would be find a Newark street pickup (or pickups) and bridge from a SF bass, that was Alembicized, and make a "proper" SF bass Jr from one of these.

Headstock appears to be diff than an NS SF Bisonic I. The one without the Chesterfield inlay is the new split pickup model. The split pup version looks like smaller bump and bigger bump shoulders, and wider headstock in general. Not that it matters. Just an interesting change.
