The original was recorded with a Guild bass. 70's solidbody M85 II if my memory is not completely shot.

Slap bass evokes different responses, too. :)

I have seen Luca perform live. He has a very charming, outgoing stage personality, very Italian-charming. He is very much given to grandstanding. He is a much better showman than a guitarist, and he is a pretty good guitarist, well at least as far as doing his own thing is concerned. The audience ADORED him!!!!

If you get a chance to see him, I would recommend going - approach it as an entertainment experience, though!

Tapping and using the instrument body as a drum are old traditional techniques. Flamenco guitarists have done this for ages. A lot of modern music written for classical guitar incorporates these techniques. However, there is a lot more to these musics than just tapping and percussing.

My Sharona ... a catchy little number but a lot like Led Zepplin with all the hard parts taken out. ;)

"My Sharona" is a great song! (with some naughty implications in the lyrics)

A lot of people think My Sharona is just another pop song until they try to learn the solo.

No thanks.

We played My Sharona for about a minute in an old cover band, around 15 or so years back. I did learn the solo. It's pretty good, not really that hard.

However, when we played the song out in the clubs it got no reaction, no dancers, nobody singing along. We learned it. Played it in public 2 or 3 times and then dropped it.

I liked it. That took skill, a lot of coordination and practice. I could never do anything like that.
