Ok so recently got a Hagstrom Viking 2 reissue. I got it used. It is made in China. I compared it to a Eastman. Why? They are not many expensive guitars made in China. It was over 1000 dollars. It made some people mad online because I compared it to an Eastman. But what other brand that is expensive from China can I compare it to?
Now I am a Elvis fan. I have on DVD the 68 Comeback Special. Elvis played a red one with a Benson amplifier. It was in the guys car that worked on the show.
Now Elvis owned a black one. Charley Hodge proved it and sold it. I never knew that? I saw the video online. I wanted the reissue when it was first announced. But I did not want to pay the expensive price. So I found mine used. They made a red, black, and sunburst. I read online that they were limited edition?
So recently I found the sunburst. It has the pickups recreated just like the original had. But it has a coil split and the original did not. It has the switch recreated in the correct location.
It also has the original style headstock shape. Almost looks like a Fender shape headstock. I know the original had the exact shape. This looks so close in shape.
Patented H-Expander truss rod. Providing tension at both ends and running the entire length of the neck, the rigid yet light-weight alloy truss rod allows for a very low action.
Resonator wood is a wood composite material similar to ebony. It has a floating Tune-O-Matic bridge. And Hagstrom machine heads. 2 x Hagstrom H-52 AlNiCo 5 Gold Mini Humbucker Pickups w/ coil split.

It has a bolt on neck like the original but the original had a 3 bolt on neck. The reissue has a 4 bolt on neck. And the flame maple looks amazing.
I really like it. I got it used recently and put it in a 335 style case. And it is gold plated. The min humbuckers are splittable. And I really like the look of the sunburst. I am glade to finally get me one.
It was in the price range I wanted used. So I jumped at the chance to get it. It was in excellent condition. Just needs cleaning and some new strings. Here is 2 pictures I found on line and a few more. They are better pictures than I can take with my Go Pro clones or my phone.
