Hey everyone, recently got this great Guild Artist Award. Really enjoy using this guitar to play solo jazz guitar. It has a great deep low end and a nice round tone throughout. A very fast playable neck. The DeArmond pickup sounds great, it has the older rhythm chief 1000 with a white insert which you usually see on Johnny Smith Awards or early Artist Awards, kinda unusual for 1977 but I like it. I own a DeArmond RC 1100 on a stick as well so I have the best of both worlds. I don't have the original pickguard, the previous owner put on a 90s AA pickguard. Overall I really like it. Has a great sound acoustic and plugged in. Im more of a pre Gibson Epiphone collector but hopefully I can add some more Guilds to my collection as well. I have hangtags and some cool case candy as well I'll show.

Heck of a first post Django! Welcome and congrats. What a stellar guitar. Love the warm toned patina top and the maple is top shelf. Definitely drool worthy!

Great first post! Beautiful guitar!

And I am going to say that I have never seen that "pick shape" insert in your case candy before! That is cool!

Beautiful guitar, @DjangoLang19! Feel free to show off your pre-Gibson Epiphones, too. (Or list them here if you decide to cut any loose!) As you may know, Guild was originally an offshoot of pre-Gibson Epiphone, so the 1950s aesthetics of the two brands were closely related, and those classic styles remained influential. Your Guild collection will be a natural offshoot of your Epiphone collection. :)

Thank you so much for the warm welcome everybody. I love the forum. So much great information shared here and everyone is friendly. I definitely feel lucky to have this guitar, it sure is a legend among jazz guitars. Yes @DeArmond Hammer I'm very aware of the history and lineage between Epiphone and Guild, I recently purchased an electronic version of Hans book and learned all about it. It was great and so informative. I think that's why I gravitated towards this Artist Award. I took a pic of my Epis with the AA recently for Instagram, that's @DjangoLang19 if you're interested in checking out my page. Il post it here for you guys too.
