Not trying to get political here.

But the weather. Some folks saying that we could be facing a climate emergency, to some folks to even mention it is taboo.

Truth be told, it's real as hell, and it's here now.

Wife's mom taught school in Redwood Valley to students who went on to be very successful in winemaking who are now dead and or lost everything in the Redwood Valley fires, grapes, houses and schools burned to the ground, that just a couple years ago. Cal Fires were out of control last fall with Red Flag Days into Xmas. Fire season completely unprecedented, Australia as well.

Fires in WA were unprecedented last year, one blew up 5 miles from our house, the acres that burned that day, the barns and pastures that burned, the family farms, the cows, horrific, all. WA fires were unprecedented, as many acres burned that one day in WA as the total acres for a normal fire season.

It's not normal anymore.

Oregon fires, whole towns burned to the ground, and Seattle area too, suburbs burned to the ground, this is or was a rain forest area.

Previously that summer, as if 2020 wasn't bad enough, a Derecho. Unprecedented storm that wiped out the Midwest, unprecedented, flattening grain silos, a storm much too big and too powerful. Superstorms.

And this winter storm Uri, 75% of the US under snow, people freezing to death in Mexico, BIG storm, unprecedented.

So, we got mail yesterday from the 13th, and 14th, 15th, 16th of last month.

I got a pedal from Prymaxe vintage they shipped out Priority Mail in the 15th, she got a letter sent on the 13th, 13 days prior.

I've never seen a mail delay from one single snow storm like this.

It's spring breakup here again today, all mushy, road restrictions in place.

We've had spring breakup four times this winter.

Spring is here but we're missing all the birds of spring, robins, swallows, phoebes, not a one anywhere.

Also, the hummingbirds have been getting here much too early for the plants we grow for them, which then get blown down by freakish winds and freeze unseasonably in mid summer. Last year we had no apricots or peaches because it froze in the spring while the trees were in bloom, and the local cherry crop got froze in a freakish early fall very hard freeze. The local apple crop failed because of the sun we missed from the smoke during the fires. The fruit didn't ripen, didn't fall off the trees, and before the leaves even had a chance to fall, it snowed and ice rained breaking branches on trees everywhere.

It's not just people out of whack.

Expect the unexpected.

If derechos were unprecedented, then why would they have a name?
